Chevrolet Aveo/Sonic

The Chevrolet Aveo began as a rebadged Daewoo Kalos, sold in North America from 2004 as a basic subcompact. It was simple, inexpensive transportation. The model was completely redesigned and renamed the Sonic for the 2012 model year. The Sonic was a huge improvement, offering modern styling, a much better chassis, and an optional 1.4L turbocharged engine that made it surprisingly fun to drive.

Collectibility for the Aveo and Sonic is limited and highly specific. These cars don't have a traditional enthusiast following, but clean, low-mileage Sonic RS models with a manual transmission are sought after by those looking for a cheap and cheerful project car. For most, they represent the bottom of the market for functional transportation, not an investment.
