Pontiac Grand Am

Pontiac introduced the Grand Am in 1973 as a unique blend of American muscle and European luxury, based on GM's A-body platform. It featured a distinctive soft Endura nose and was marketed for its superior handling. After a short run, the nameplate was revived in 1985 on a front-wheel-drive compact platform, a formula that would continue through 4 more generations until 2005.

Collector interest centers almost exclusively on the first-generation cars from 1973-1975, especially those equipped with the 400 or 455 V8 engines. Their combination of Pontiac performance and unique styling makes them desirable. Later GT and SC/T models from the 1990s and 2000s are finding a small following as affordable, sporty cars from the era, but few have been preserved.

The market is thin but shows a huge spread, with an average sale price around $13,500 heavily influenced by top-tier first-gen cars. Most later-generation examples trade for less than $5,000, representing the entry level of the market. The high-end sales, exceeding $50,000, are reserved for rare and perfectly restored 1973-1975 models.

Recent sales show prices ranging from $1,500 for daily-driver examples to $56,073 for concours-quality first-generation cars.
