Summary
From Bonhams
1929 Graham-Paige Type 612 Tourer Chassis no. 856273 The three Graham brothers started out as commercial vehicle manufacturers immediately after WWI and from 1921 collaborated with Dodge to whom they sold out in 1926. More details
A staggering 73,195 cars were sold in Graham-Paige’s first 12 months, a US auto-industry record at the time. High performance was a strong selling point in G-P’s early years, one example setting speed records at the Brooklands track in England while another held the Mount Washington climb record. Despite a succession of styling innovations - its Bluestreak and ‘shark nose’ models are among the most striking of the 1930s - Graham never fully recovered from the Depression years and built its last car in 1940.
This right-hand drive Graham-Paige Model 612 Tourer is on the shortest (112”, 2,845mm) wheelbase chassis and has the 190cu in (3. 1-litre) 62bhp six-cylinder engine. Imported by its previous owner, an important Parisian collector, from Montevideo, Uruguay in 1989, where it was used by the local Police Department for several years, it was then restored in Europe in the early 1990’s.
This typical ‘Al Capone Style’ car comes with a French Carte Gris de Collection.
