Lotus Elite 1st Gen

The Lotus Elite, or Type 14, was a landmark car for Colin Chapman's company and the automotive industry. It was the world's first production car to use a fiberglass monocoque chassis, a technology that contributed to its featherlight curb weight of just over 1,100 pounds. Combined with a 1.2-liter Coventry Climax FWE inline-4 engine and four-wheel independent suspension, the Elite offered incredible handling and was highly successful in sports car racing, scoring 6 class wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Collectors prize the Elite for its engineering significance, stunning looks, and pure driving experience. Its rarity, with only about 1,030 cars produced between 1957 and 1963, adds to its appeal.
