Subaru Impreza 2nd Gen

The second-generation Impreza cemented Subaru's reputation for accessible all-wheel-drive performance. It launched in North America for the 2002 model year and is known for its three distinct facelift styles: the 'Bugeye' (2002-2003), 'Blobeye' (2004-2005), and 'Hawkeye' (2006-2007). The arrival of the turbocharged WRX was a sensation, but the introduction of the even more potent 300 hp WRX STI for 2004 truly established the car as a legend.

Collectors are primarily interested in the WRX and WRX STI models due to their direct link to Subaru's World Rally Championship success. The STI is the top prize, especially later 'Hawkeye' versions and limited editions. The biggest challenge for buyers is the model's popularity within the tuning community. Most examples have been modified and driven hard, making stock, low-mileage cars exceptionally rare and valuable.

The market for these cars is broad, with an average sale price around $15,734. While tired and heavily modified examples can be found for just a few thousand dollars, pristine, collector-grade STIs regularly sell for over $50,000. As the supply of clean, original cars dwindles, their values continue to separate from the rest of the market.

Prices range from under $500 for non-running project cars to over $55,000 for pristine, low-mileage WRX STI models.
