The Toyota Corolla, introduced in 1966, built its legacy on affordability and legendary reliability, becoming one of the best-selling cars in history. Early generations were simple, rear-wheel-drive economy cars that provided basic transportation for millions. Over 12 generations, it has evolved significantly, but the core principles of value and dependability have always remained.

Collector interest is primarily focused on the rear-wheel-drive models built before the mid-1980s. The AE86 generation (1983-1987) is the most sought-after, thanks to its lightweight chassis, rev-happy 4A-GE engine, and central role in the birth of drifting. Early TE27 and TE72 models are also gaining traction. More recently, limited-production performance models like the GR Corolla have become instant collectibles.

The market for the Corolla is incredibly broad. While the average sale price is just over $14,000, this is skewed by the vast number of newer, mass-market examples trading as used cars. The high end of the market, approaching $100,000, is reserved for pristine, low-mileage AE86 examples, rare early models, or new GR Corollas selling above sticker price. Most classic models trade in the $15,000 to $40,000 range depending on condition.

Prices range from as low as $150 for project cars to $98,500 for pristine collector-grade examples.
