RUF Wheels

RUF Automobile of Pfaffenhausen, Germany, is a car maker that also sells its own five-spoke wheels for Porsche 911s. The original 17-inch wheels were made in Italy by Speedline, and the CTR 'Yellowbird' of 1987 rode on them. OZ Racing in Italy made RUF's 18-inch wheels from the mid-1990s, and Speedline also made an 18-inch version. RUF still sells five-spoke wheels in 17- to 20-inch sizes for 911s from the F-model to the 991. F- and G-model sets are 17x8 ET30.4 and 17x9 ET17.7. Wide-body 930 Turbo sets are 17x9 ET17.7 and 17x10 ET5.

Years

Speedline made RUF's 17-inch wheels from the 1980s to the late 1990s. OZ made the 18-inch wheels from the mid-1990s. RUF still sells new wheels.

Spotting a replica

Period wheels made by Speedline have the RUF and Speedline names and a KBA approval number cast on the face, and 'Made in Italy' and a date code on the back. OZ-made wheels carry OZ casting marks and part numbers on the back. RUF has reissued the 17-inch wheel, and the reissues lack the Speedline name: some are marked 'RUF Germany' and others were made by OZ. Check the date codes if you want period wheels. Refinishing can polish the markings off.
