The Cadillac Allante was a bold attempt to compete with European luxury roadsters like the Mercedes-Benz SL. It's famous for its unique production process where completed bodies, designed and built by Pininfarina in Italy, were flown to GM's Hamtramck plant in Michigan on specially equipped Boeing 747s for final assembly. This 'Allante Air Bridge' made it one of the most interesting manufacturing stories of the era, though sales never met GM's expectations.

The final 1993 model is the most sought-after, as it received the 295 hp Northstar V8 engine, which finally gave the car the performance to match its looks.
