Cadillac CTS-V 1st Gen

The first-generation CTS-V was a major statement from Cadillac. Launched for 2004, it was the first model from the new V-Series performance sub-brand, created to directly challenge German rivals like the BMW M5. GM's engineers fitted the CTS sedan with the 5.7L LS6 V8 from the C5 Corvette Z06, producing 400 horsepower and 395 lb-ft of torque, all sent through a mandatory Tremec T-56 6-speed manual transmission.

Collectors value the first-gen V for its historical significance as the car that kicked off Cadillac's performance renaissance. It's a raw, analog driving experience that combines a proven, powerful GM V8 with rear-wheel drive and three pedals, a formula that's increasingly rare. Its understated, angular styling also helps it stand out from later, more aggressive V-series models.

The market for these cars is quite accessible, with an average sale price of around $21,000. While a few pristine, ultra-low-mileage examples have sold for much higher, the majority of cars trade for between $15,000 and $30,000. This makes it an excellent value for a 400-horsepower modern classic.

Prices range from $9,250 for high-mileage drivers to $120,000 for concours-quality examples.
