Cadillac DeVille

The Cadillac DeVille was a pillar of the American luxury market for over 50 years. It began in 1949 as the top trim for the Series 62 and became its own model in 1959, defining the brand's image with its bold styling, V8 power, and plush interiors. Through eight distinct generations, it evolved from the massive, finned icons of the 1950s and 60s to the downsized, front-wheel-drive sedans that carried the nameplate until its retirement in 2005.

Collector interest is strongest for the early rear-wheel-drive generations, particularly the 1959-1964 models with their dramatic styling and the 1965-1970 cars known for their clean, elegant lines. These vehicles represent a high point in American automotive design and excess. Later cars from the 1980s and 90s don't have the same classic appeal but are finding new fans as affordable, comfortable entry points into the classic car hobby.

The market for the DeVille is exceptionally broad, with an average sale price around $16,000 reflecting the high volume of driver-quality cars from all eras. While pristine convertibles from the 1960s can fetch six-figure sums, excellent examples from the 70s through the early 2000s remain very accessible. The Northstar-equipped FWD models from the 1990s are the most affordable but also carry the highest risk for expensive engine repairs.
