Top dollar is paid for immaculate, low-mileage Biarritz models, particularly those with the sought-after stainless-steel roof and better engines from 1979-1980. Cars with the problematic HT4100 sell for a significant discount unless they are exceptionally low-mileage survivor cars.
Buying Tips
- Be cautious with the 1982-1985 HT4100 V8 engine; it's known for intake manifold gasket leaks and head gasket failures. Check for coolant in the oil.
- Inspect the plastic body fillers between the fenders and bumpers. They become brittle and crack with age and are a very common failure point.
- Verify that all components of the digital instrument cluster and electronic climate control are fully functional. Sourcing parts and repairing these units can be difficult.
- On Biarritz models, carefully examine the condition of the brushed stainless-steel roof panel for dents, scratches, or signs of corrosion underneath.
- Check the automatic level control suspension. If the car sags in the rear, the system's air shocks or compressor likely need replacement.
