The Chevrolet K5 Blazer debuted in 1969 as a full-size competitor to the Ford Bronco and International Harvester Scout. Based on a shortened K10 pickup truck frame, it offered more interior space and the availability of powerful V8 engines. The first generation (1969-1972) is notable for its fully removable fiberglass top, while the second-generation 'square body' (1973-1991) featured a half-cab design with a removable roof section behind the B-pillars.

Collectors appreciate the K5 Blazer for its simple, rugged mechanicals, classic American styling, and go-anywhere capability. First-generation models are the rarest and most valuable, but the long-running second generation has a massive enthusiast following and excellent parts availability. Desirable trim packages like the Cheyenne and Silverado, along with specific options like the 400 cubic-inch V8, add to a truck's appeal.
