These Atlas-family engines were derived from the larger inline-6 found in the TrailBlazer, giving the Colorado a unique powertrain story compared to competitors that relied on V6s.

Collectibility today centers on specific configurations. The most desirable models are the 2009-2012 trucks equipped with the optional 5.3L LH8 V8, which transformed the compact truck into a credible performance machine. These V8 models, especially in Crew Cab 4x4 Z71 trim, are the ones collectors seek out. Standard models are still valued for their utility and simplicity, making them practical entry points into the modern classic truck scene.

The market reflects this split. The average sale price of around $14,208 indicates that most traded examples are clean, usable trucks rather than pristine collectibles. However, the top of the market, at over $25,000, is reserved almost exclusively for low-mileage, well-optioned V8 models. Most buyers are looking for a capable and affordable second vehicle, but a small group of enthusiasts is starting to preserve the best examples.
