The 4th generation Impala, sold from 1965 to 1970, was a massive success for Chevrolet. A 1965 redesign introduced a new full-perimeter frame and curved side glass, and it set an industry sales record with over 1 million cars sold that year. Body styles included coupes, convertibles, sedans, and wagons, with engine choices ranging from economical inline-6s to powerful big-block V8s like the 396 and 427.

Collectors prize the '65-'70 models for their classic styling and the wide variety of configurations. The 2-door hardtop is the most popular body style, and Super Sport (SS) models with big-block engines are the most desirable. Convertibles also command a premium. More recently, the '67 4-door hardtop has gained a cult following due to its prominent role in the TV series "Supernatural," boosting interest in a previously overlooked body style.
