Chevrolet Impala 8th Gen

The 8th generation Impala, sold from 2000 to 2005, revived the storied nameplate on the front-wheel-drive W-body platform. Replacing the Lumina, it served as a practical and popular sedan for families and fleets, offered with either a 3.4L or a naturally aspirated 3.8L V6 engine. For most of its run, it was a sensible, workaday car, but that changed in its final years.

The collector market for the 8th gen Impala is almost entirely focused on the 2004-2005 SS model. Chevrolet fitted these cars with the supercharged 3.8L L67 V6, which sent 240 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque through a heavy-duty 4-speed automatic. This combination created a potent sleeper sedan, and special versions like the 2004 Indy SS add to the appeal. Police package (9C1) models also have a niche following for their durability upgrades.

Today, the market is highly polarized. Base and LS models are valued as inexpensive used cars, often trading for just a few thousand dollars. In contrast, the average sale price of over $12,000 is driven by clean, low-mileage SS examples. These supercharged sedans are seen as affordable, modern collectibles with a direct link to Chevrolet's performance heritage.

Prices range from $200 for project cars to $85,800 for pristine, low-mileage SS variants.
