Chevrolet Impala 9th Gen

The 9th generation Impala, built on the long-running W-body platform, was Chevrolet's mainstream full-size sedan from 2006 to 2016. Its conservative styling and durable V6 powertrains made it a favorite for rental companies and police departments. While millions of V6 models were sold, they are primarily treated as used cars today.

Collector interest is almost entirely focused on the Impala SS, which returned from 2006 to 2009. These cars are notable for their transverse-mounted 5.3L LS4 V8, which sent 303 horsepower to the front wheels. It's a unique configuration that makes the SS a modern curiosity. Niche interest also exists for the heavy-duty 9C1 police package cars and the later 2012-2016 models equipped with the potent 300 hp 3.6L LFX V6.

The market for these Impalas is extremely wide. The vast majority of sales are for standard LS, LT, and LTZ models, which trade for very little money and make up the low end of the market. The average price of around $7,000 typically buys a decent V6 or a higher-mileage SS. Clean, low-mileage SS models command a significant premium and represent the most collectible variant of this generation.
