The DeTomaso Pantera blended Italian exotic styling with a reliable American powertrain. Penned by Ghia's Tom Tjaarda and powered by a mid-mounted Ford 351 Cleveland V8, it was sold through Lincoln-Mercury dealers in the US from 1971 to 1975. Production continued in Italy for the rest of the world until 1992, with later cars like the GT5 and GT5-S featuring dramatic widebody styling and aerodynamic aids.
