Dodge Omni

The Dodge Omni was a front-wheel drive subcompact introduced in 1978, sharing its platform with the Plymouth Horizon. While standard models were basic transportation, the Omni's place in collector history was cemented by Carroll Shelby. He created the GLH, or "Goes Like Hell," a turbocharged hot hatch that challenged more expensive performance cars of the era.

The most sought-after models are the 1985-1986 Omni GLH, which used a 146 hp 2.2L turbo engine, and the ultra-rare 1986 GLHS. The GLHS, or "Goes Like Hell S'more," was a post-production modification by Shelby's own company, boosting output to 175 hp and adding upgraded suspension. Only 500 were made, making them the ultimate Omni prize.

The market for the Omni is highly segmented. Base models are still inexpensive, but the average sale price of $15,863 is pulled up by the Shelby variants. A pristine, low-mileage GLHS can fetch over $40,000, reflecting its rarity and '80s performance credentials.

Prices range from $1,500 for standard cars to over $41,000 for top-spec GLHS examples.
