The Dodge Ram SRT-10 was a wild creation from Chrysler's Performance Vehicle Operations (PVO) team, which later became SRT. Engineers fitted the 8.3L Viper V10 engine, producing 500 hp and 525 lb-ft of torque, into a standard Ram 1500 chassis. It was offered as a Regular Cab from 2004-2006 and a Quad Cab from 2005-2006, creating a true factory-built muscle truck.
Collectors prize the SRT-10 for its outrageous concept and raw performance. The Regular Cab models, available exclusively with a Tremec T-56 6-speed manual transmission, are the most desirable for their purity and driving engagement. The Quad Cab offered more practicality with four doors and a 4-speed automatic, making it a better daily driver but slightly less collectible.
The market for the Ram SRT-10 is strong and shows consistent interest. With an average sale price over $41,000, these trucks have clearly moved into collector status. Low-mileage, unmodified examples, especially manual-equipped Regular Cabs and special editions like the Viper Club of America (VCA) models, bring the highest values, often exceeding $60,000.
Buying Tips
- The 8.3L V10 is generally durable, but check for oil leaks at the pan gasket and rear main seal. Listen for any valvetrain noise on cold starts.
- Manual T-56 transmissions can have worn synchros; feel for grinding or difficult shifts into 2nd and 3rd gear. The automatic 48RE should be checked for fluid condition and firm shifts, as the V10's torque can stress it.
- Inspect the unique body kit, hood, and wing for cracks, poor paint repairs, or accident damage. These parts are specific to the SRT-10 and can be difficult to source.
- The lowered suspension uses Bilstein shocks and performance springs. Check the shocks for leaks and look for damage to front-end components from curb or pothole impacts.
- The 22-inch factory wheels are prone to curb rash and clear coat failure. Brakes are large and effective, but replacement rotors and pads are more expensive than a standard Ram's.
Prices for the Dodge Ram SRT-10 range from $10,000 for project examples to $83,000 for pristine, low-mileage trucks.
