The Dodge Ramcharger was Chrysler's entry into the burgeoning full-size SUV market, produced from 1974 to 1993 for the US. Built on a shortened version of the Dodge D-series truck chassis, it directly competed with the Chevrolet K5 Blazer and Ford Bronco. Early models from 1974 to 1980 featured a fully removable steel top, which was replaced by a fixed, welded steel roof from 1981 onward to improve sealing and body rigidity.
