Dodge Royal

The Dodge Royal was a mid-range model introduced for the 1954 model year, positioned above the Coronet. By 1955, it became a key part of Virgil Exner's "Forward Look" design era, showcasing dramatic fins, bold two-tone paint schemes, and new V8 power. Engine options included both Polyspherical and Hemi-head designs, with the "Super Red Ram" Hemi being a notable performance choice. The Royal offered a blend of style and performance that defined American cars of the period.

Collectors are drawn to the Royal for its quintessential 1950s styling. The tailfins, which grew larger each year until 1959, are a major attraction, as are the unique tri-tone color combinations offered on the Lancer hardtop models. It's an excellent way to get into a finned Mopar from the 50s without the higher price tag of a Chrysler 300 or Imperial. With an average sale price around $33,000, restored Royals are accessible, but the market is thin, making top examples harder to find than their Ford or Chevy counterparts.
