Ducati Monster

The Ducati Monster, first shown in 1992 and released in 1993, created the modern naked bike category. Designer Miguel Galluzzi pieced together existing Ducati parts, combining a trellis frame from the 851 superbike with the air-cooled 904cc L-twin from the 900SS. This simple, muscular formula was an instant success and defined Ducati's image for decades.

Collectors seek out the early M900 models for their raw, minimalist design and historical significance as the first of the breed. The Monster family grew to include dozens of variants, from small-displacement entry bikes to high-performance, water-cooled S4R and S4RS models with superbike-derived engines. This diversity means there's a Monster for nearly every type of rider and collector.

The market is very broad, with an average sale price around $7,000, making ownership accessible. Entry-level and high-mileage bikes are widely available and affordable. The highest prices are reserved for rare limited editions and exceptionally clean, low-mileage examples of first-generation M900s.

Based on 120 sales, prices range from $1,650 for project bikes to $37,938 for top-spec or limited edition models.
