Ford Explorer 4th Gen

The 4th generation Explorer, sold from 2006 to 2010, represented a major update and the end of an era. It was the last Explorer to use traditional body-on-frame construction, gaining a stronger frame based on the F-150. Engine choices included the standard 4.0L V6 or the much-improved 4.6L 3-valve V8, which produced 292 hp and was paired with a new 6-speed automatic transmission.

While not yet a mainstream collector vehicle, this generation has a following among enthusiasts who value its rugged construction and V8 power. It's one of the last simple, truck-based mid-size SUVs from a domestic brand.
