Ford Ranger 1st Gen

Ford introduced the Ranger in 1983 as its first domestically produced compact pickup, replacing the Mazda-built Courier. Built on a unique chassis, it wasn't just a scaled-down F-150. It offered a wide range of configurations, including multiple bed lengths, cab sizes, and powertrains like the durable 2.3L Lima four-cylinder and several V6 options. The first generation's simple mechanicals and classic, squared-off styling have made it a favorite among collectors nostalgic for the 1980s.

The market for first-generation Rangers is incredibly diverse. The vast majority of transactions are for well-used examples that still serve as reliable workhorses, often trading for under $10,000. These trucks are easy to work on and have excellent parts availability, making them great entry-level classics. At the high end of the market, however, ultra-low-mileage "survivor" trucks, especially well-optioned 4x4s with V6 engines, have sold for over $30,000, with at least one exceptional example reaching $55,000.

Prices range from a few hundred dollars for project trucks to $55,000 for concours-quality survivors.
