Ford Taurus 5th Gen

The 5th generation Ford Taurus was a brief, 2-year model run for 2008-2009. It wasn't an all-new car, but rather a renamed and updated Ford Five Hundred, a move pushed by then-CEO Alan Mulally to bring back a familiar nameplate. All models received the 263 hp 3.5L Duratec V6 and a 6-speed automatic transmission, a notable power increase over the Five Hundred it replaced. The car offered a comfortable ride and a spacious interior, but it was quickly overshadowed by the completely redesigned 6th generation that arrived for 2010.

As a collector's item, the 5th gen Taurus doesn't have a large following. It's seen more as a used car than an enthusiast vehicle, partly because of its short production run and origins as a rebadged sedan. Its significance is more historical, marking a transition point for Ford as it revitalized its model lineup. The top-trim Limited AWD models are the most desirable, but even these don't command high prices.
