Honda Civic 8th Gen

Introduced for 2006, the 8th generation Civic was a dramatic redesign featuring a futuristic two-tier dashboard and sharp, modern styling. While base models received a reliable 1.8L R-series engine, enthusiasts sought out the Si trim. The Si featured the high-revving 197 hp K20Z3 2.0L engine, a 6-speed manual transmission, and a helical limited-slip differential. For the first time, the Si was offered as a sedan starting in 2007, broadening its appeal.

The Si is the only 8th generation Civic with significant collector interest. It represents one of the last naturally aspirated, high-RPM performance cars from Honda, making it a favorite among driving purists. Its K-series engine is also a popular platform for modification, so finding an unmolested example is becoming increasingly difficult and more valuable. These cars offer a great balance of daily usability and weekend fun.

The market for these Civics is extremely broad. The vast majority of sales are for inexpensive base model coupes and sedans used as daily drivers, which pulls the average sale price down to just under $3,000. Clean, low-mileage Si coupes and sedans, however, are in a different class, regularly trading for over $10,000 and showing potential for future appreciation.
