Introduced for the 1984 model year, the first-generation Honda CR-X was a lightweight, front-wheel-drive sport compact based on the Civic platform. - Rust is the number one issue. Thoroughly inspect the rear quarter panels behind the wheels, fender arches, sunroof drains, and floor pans.
- Check for blue smoke from the exhaust on startup, which indicates worn valve stem seals. On Si models, ensure the PGM-FI system is functioning correctly.
- Interior plastics and trim are brittle and difficult to find. Check the dash for cracks and ensure all unique trim pieces are present and in good condition.
- Unmodified examples are rare and command a premium. Be wary of extensive modifications, as returning a car to stock can be expensive and time-consuming.
