Hyundai entered the compact pickup segment in 2022 with the Santa Cruz, calling it a 'Sport Adventure Vehicle.' It's based on the Tucson crossover platform, featuring a unibody construction rather than a traditional body-on-frame design. This approach gives it a more comfortable, car-like ride and handling profile compared to conventional trucks, though it limits its towing and payload capacities.

The Santa Cruz appeals to buyers who need light utility without the compromises of a larger truck. It competes directly with the Ford Maverick, another unibody pickup. Two engine options were offered: a naturally aspirated 191 hp 2.5L inline-4 and a much more desirable 281 hp turbocharged 2.5L, which also comes with a dual-clutch transmission and standard all-wheel drive.

As a very recent model, the Santa Cruz isn't a classic collectible yet, but it's a vehicle of interest for its unique position in the market. The market is still in its initial depreciation phase, with an average sale price around $21,772. Lower-trim models are becoming quite affordable, while top-spec Limited trims hold their value better due to their powerful turbo engine and extensive features.

Based on recent sales, prices range from around $15,900 for early models to just over $29,000 for newer, high-spec trims.
