Infiniti G/Q40

The Infiniti G-series found its footing in 2003 with the G35. Based on Nissan's FM platform, it shared its V6 engine and rear-wheel-drive layout with the 350Z. Offered as a stylish coupe or practical sedan, it was a direct competitor to German sport sedans. The subsequent G37 model, introduced in 2008, increased displacement to 3.7 liters. As part of a brand-wide renaming strategy, the G37 sedan was briefly sold as the Q40 for the 2015 model year before being discontinued.

Collectors and enthusiasts value the G35 and G37 for their potent VQ-series V6, engaging RWD handling, and immense tuning potential. They offer a reliable and affordable entry point into the Japanese performance car scene. Manual transmission coupes are particularly sought after, as they deliver the most direct driving experience. Their combination of performance and daily-driver comfort keeps them relevant.

The market for the G/Q40 is active, with an average price just over $10,500. Most available cars are drivers that have seen regular use, and many have been modified. Clean, low-mileage, and unmodified examples are getting harder to find and command a significant premium, especially 6-speed manual coupes. The vast majority of sales fall well below the $20,000 mark.
