Iso Automotoveicoli S.p.A. pivoted from building the Isetta bubble car to creating luxurious grand tourers in the early 1960s. Company head Renzo Rivolta hired a dream team, including engineer Giotto Bizzarrini and designer Giorgetto Giugiaro at Bertone, to create the Rivolta IR 300. The car featured a sophisticated chassis with a de Dion tube rear axle and was powered by a reliable 327 cubic inch V8 from the Chevrolet Corvette.
