- The original Moss gearbox lacks synchromesh on first gear. Check for excessive whining or difficult shifting in other gears, which can signal expensive problems.
- Interior restoration is costly. Prioritize cars with complete and well-preserved wood veneers and leather upholstery, as sourcing or refurbishing these items is a major expense.
- Verify the electrical system. Lucas components can be temperamental, so ensure all gauges, switches, lights, and the optional overdrive are functioning correctly.
