Introduced in 1955, the MGA was a complete design revolution for MG. It replaced the traditional T-Type roadsters with a modern, streamlined body wrapped around a rigid chassis. Power initially came from a 1489cc B-Series 4-cylinder engine, which was later upgraded to 1588cc and 1622cc variants. A sophisticated Twin Cam model was also offered, though it proved complex and fragile.
The MGA's beautiful design makes it one of the most beloved British sports cars of its era. Collectors appreciate its pure, analog driving experience and strong parts availability, which makes ownership relatively straightforward. While the standard 1500 and 1600 roadsters are the most common, the fixed-head coupe, high-performance Twin Cam, and rare "Deluxe" models are especially prized.
