Mitsubishi launched the Diamante in the US for the 1992 model year as its flagship executive sedan. Competing with the Acura Legend and Lexus ES 300, it offered advanced features for its time, including a DOHC 3.0L V6, optional all-wheel drive, and active electronic suspension. The first generation, which shared its platform with the 3000GT, ran until 1995. A softer, front-wheel-drive-only second generation was sold from 1997 through 2004.
