Renault Alliance

The Renault Alliance was the first product of the AMC-Renault partnership, a re-engineered Renault 9 built in Kenosha, Wisconsin for the North American market. It launched to immediate acclaim, winning Motor Trend's Car of the Year award for 1983 thanks to its efficient packaging, comfortable ride, and impressive fuel economy. Available as a sedan, coupe, and later a convertible, the Alliance and its Encore hatchback sibling represented AMC's last major effort in the passenger car market before its acquisition by Chrysler.

Collectibility today is driven by rarity and nostalgia. Very few Alliances have survived due to significant rust issues and a reputation for poor reliability. This scarcity makes any clean, running example a curiosity. The most desirable models are the sporty GTA, which featured a 2.0L engine and ground effects, and the ASC-converted convertible.
