TVR Tuscan

The TVR Tuscan nameplate spans two very different eras of the British manufacturer. The original Tuscan arrived in 1967, using a Ford 289 V8 in a short-wheelbase chassis similar to the Griffith. It was a brutish, fast, and rare machine, with just over 70 built in V8 and V6 forms. The name was revived in 1999 for a completely new car featuring a GRP body with radical styling and TVR's own Speed Six inline-6 engine. These later Tuscans are what most people picture, offering a raw, unfiltered driving experience with no electronic aids like traction control or ABS.

The Tuscan appeals to collectors who want an extreme and analog sports car. Its bespoke engine, wild looks, and challenging driving dynamics set it apart from contemporaries like the Porsche 911. There isn't a huge market for them, but it's a dedicated one. The average sale price hovers around $43,000, but this figure blends the very rare 1960s cars with the more common 1999-2006 models.

Today's market values Tuscans based on generation, condition, and specification. The later cars with the 4.0L 'S' engine command a premium. Well-maintained cars with documented engine health are highly sought after, as Speed Six engine rebuilds can be very expensive. The rarity of the original V8 models puts them in a different price category altogether when they do appear for sale.

Based on recent sales, prices range from around $21,000 for project cars to $80,000 for top-tier examples.
