The BMW i8 brought concept car looks to the street when it launched for the 2014 model year. Built on a carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) passenger cell, it's powered by a plug-in hybrid system combining a 1.5L turbocharged 3-cylinder engine with an electric motor. Total output is 357 hp in early models and 369 hp from 2018, sent through an all-wheel-drive system. With its dramatic butterfly doors and futuristic styling, the i8 still looks like nothing else on the road.

Collectors are drawn to the i8 as a landmark vehicle for BMW and the sports car market. It was a bold statement about the future of performance, blending efficiency with exotic design.
