Chevrolet Corvette C5

Introduced for 1997, the C5 Corvette was a clean-sheet redesign that brought the model into the modern era. Its hydroformed steel frame was significantly stiffer than the C4's, and the rear-mounted transaxle created a near-perfect 50/50 weight distribution. Under the hood, the new all-aluminum 5.7L LS1 V8 provided 345 hp and proved to be a durable and tunable powerhouse, establishing a new foundation for GM performance that continues today.

The most collectible C5 is the Z06, launched in 2001. Initially offering 385 hp from its LS6 engine, it was boosted to 405 hp for 2002. It also featured a fixed-roof-coupe body style for maximum rigidity, upgraded suspension, and a titanium exhaust. Other notable models include the 2003 50th Anniversary Edition and the 2004 Commemorative Edition, which celebrated success at Le Mans.
