Ferrari 488

The Ferrari 488 GTB and Spider marked a major shift for Ferrari's mid-engine V8 line. Introduced in 2015, it replaced the naturally aspirated 458 Italia with a new 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8. This engine produced 661 hp, a significant jump over its predecessor, and delivered staggering performance with minimal turbo lag. The lineup was later joined by the track-focused 488 Pista and Pista Spider, which boosted power to 710 hp and incorporated extensive aerodynamic and lightweight components derived from Ferrari's racing programs.

Collectors are drawn to the 488 for its blend of modern technology and raw driving feel. It's the last mid-engine V8 designed under Sergio Marchionne and represents a high point for Ferrari's turbocharging efforts before the introduction of hybrid systems. The Pista variants are the most desirable, valued for their limited production numbers, extreme performance, and direct lineage to the 488 GTE and Challenge race cars.
