The first-generation Honda City, introduced in 1981, was a clever 'tall boy' design that maximized interior space in a tiny footprint. Buying Tips
- Rust is the biggest enemy, especially on cars from wet climates. Check the sills, wheel arches, floor pans, and around the windows for corrosion.
- For Turbo models, check the IHI turbocharger for shaft play and oil leaks. Parts can be difficult to find, so a healthy turbo is a major plus.
- If a Motocompo scooter is included, verify its condition and originality. Check if it runs and inspect its tiny fuel system for leaks. A complete, working scooter dramatically increases value.
- Interior plastics and upholstery are now over 40 years old. Look for cracks on the dashboard and door panels, as well as torn seat fabric, which can be hard to source and replace.
