- The Electronic Air Suspension (EAS) is the most common failure point. Check for sagging corners, a slow-to-lift compressor, and any warning lights on the dash. Many have been converted to coil springs, which is a cheaper but less authentic solution.
- Inspect the Body electrical Control Module (BeCM) by testing every single electronic function, from windows and locks to the stereo and climate control. A faulty BeCM is complex and expensive to repair or replace.
- The 4.0L and 4.6L V8s can suffer from slipped cylinder liners, leading to overheating and coolant loss. Check for any signs of head gasket failure, such as milky oil or excessive pressure in the cooling system.
- Rust is a concern, especially on the upper and lower tailgates, inner fenders, sills, and around the rear wheel arches. Check these areas thoroughly, as repairs can be costly.
