BMW F650

BMW introduced the F650 in 1993, marking its return to the single-cylinder market after a long hiatus. Developed with Aprilia and using a durable 652cc Rotax engine, the original carbureted 'Funduro' was an immediate success. It offered a mix of on-road comfort and light off-road capability. In 2000, the line was updated to the F650GS and the more off-road focused F650GS Dakar, featuring fuel injection and updated styling. The F650 name was later used on a de-tuned 798cc twin-cylinder model, creating some confusion but continuing the bike's legacy of accessibility.

The F650's appeal lies in its reliability and versatility. The Rotax single is known for being nearly indestructible, and the bike's manageable size and weight make it a great choice for new adventure riders or commuters. The Dakar models, with their 21-inch front wheel and long-travel suspension, are particularly desired for their increased off-road prowess. The market for these bikes is active but very affordable, with an average transaction price around $5,400. They aren't high-dollar collectibles, but rather practical, usable machines that offer a lot of value.

Prices range from $850 for early, high-mileage examples to $10,450 for pristine, low-mile Dakar variants.
