Ford Focus

The Ford Focus arrived in North America for the 2000 model year, replacing the long-running Escort. It introduced sharp "New Edge" styling and a sophisticated control-blade independent rear suspension that gave even base models surprisingly good handling. It was available as a sedan, a 3 or 5-door hatchback, and a wagon.

While millions of standard Focuses were sold, collector interest centers on the performance variants. The 2002-2004 SVT Focus is an appreciating modern classic, but the main draw is the 2016-2018 Focus RS. With a 350 hp 2.3L EcoBoost engine, a sophisticated torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system, and a 6-speed manual, the RS was a limited-production halo car that is now the most sought-after model.

The market for the Focus is split. The vast majority of transactions are for standard models that trade for a few thousand dollars. The collector market, however, is almost exclusively driven by the Focus RS, which can sell for over $40,000. Focus ST models offer a great performance value but haven't seen the same collector appreciation as the RS.
